The Editors

This page describes a job. It is the shortest page on the site because the honest content of the job is small.

What the editors do

The editors curate this tradition. Concretely: they test every page against the Six Qualities before it is published, and against every page already shipped, so the site cannot quietly disagree with itself; they verify every quotation on the site against the printed edition named beside it, and publish nothing quotable that has not been checked; they keep the vocabulary honest, so that no term is used that the glossary does not carry; and when an error is found — of fact, of citation, of doctrine — they correct it in the open, on this page.

That is the whole of the work: curation, checking, and repair. The editors write and arrange; the reader tests, and owes the editors nothing for the arranging. Nothing about that division is modesty. It is the design: the test runs inward, by the person doing the checking, on no one else's word (see I.22).

What the editors claim

Nothing beyond the texts. The editors claim no attainment, no standing to adjudicate anyone's practice, and no authority that survives a failed test — if a page fails the test it teaches, the page is wrong, whoever wrote it and however carefully. A signpost is useful exactly as far as it points true, and not one step further (see I.25).

The whole of the origin story has already been told, and this sentence is it: written by its editors, in the open, beginning in 2026.

Why no names

Because nothing here should lean on one. A named life would give these pages something other than their tests to stand on, and the reading asked for here is the opposite one: every page tested as though no one wrote it. The choice has a real cost — a silence earns no trust, and the cost is accepted rather than argued away. The full objection, at full strength, is answered at /objections.

The silence is kept by saying nothing, never by claiming anything: no biography, no origin tale, no age beyond what is stated here. What is offered in place of a name is on the record instead — the sources credited, the quotations checkable, and the corrections below.

How to reach the editors

  • [email protected] — for errors of fact, citation, or doctrine, and for objections stated more strongly than /objections states them. Corrections are published here, on the record.
  • [email protected] — for anything else.
  • [email protected] — for security reports about the site itself. A machine-readable copy of this contact lives at /.well-known/security.txt.

Mail is read by the editors. No response time is promised; publication of a correction is the reply that counts.

Corrections

When a correction lands, it is recorded here with what was wrong, what it was changed to, and when — the original error named, not papered over. The log so far:

None yet.
